Bachata

Bachata begins based on traditional Dominican styles of music and the guitar-based bolero. The first singles are said to have been produced in 1961, but for the first two decades the genre was predominantly popular amongst the poor and working class. It did not become a dominant force on radio until the 1980s, and eventually spread to other countries ever since.
